Cheesesteak Sandwich
I had a smallish left over New York strip steak from the Memorial Day cookout on Monday. I tried to think of an original way to incorporate this delicious tender leftover meat into a really unique dish but, my mind kept going back to a cheesesteak sandwich. The though of the melted cheese set atop the steak with sauteed onions and a few jalapenos for good measure could not be erased from my head. So, finally I succumbed to the cheesesteak dream.
I sliced the New York strip steak into very thin slices while I sauteed 1/2 of a thinly sliced onion and sweet yellow bell pepper. A little drizzle of Worcestershire sauce and onto the roll it went. Topped with a cheddar/monterey jack combo and a few pickled jalapenos, I slid the sandwich into the oven just long enough to heat through, melt the cheese and toast the kaiser the roll. A perfect meal when served with french fries....of course!
